MV AGUSTA has just rolled out its latest weapon in the 1,000cc naked sector, the Brutale 1000 RS. Visually there is little to tell that this isn’t the top-spec RR version of the 200+bhp machine, although a quick glance at the price tag might just reveal the true story!

Billed as the Brutale 1000 for everyone, the main point of difference between this bike and the RR is in its suspension set-up. Gone is electronically controlled Öhlins NIX EC forks and TTX shock, and in their place are now manually adjusted Marzocchi USD forks and a Sachs rear shock. The top-spec Brembo Stylema calipers remain and so does the full and thorough suite of electronic rider aids to help out on road and track.
Other changes come in the form of revised egonomics (higher clip-ons), a new seat, forged footpegs, and new rear-view mirrors.
Internally the engine also benefits from the host of upgrades that were bestowed on the RR earlier this year, meaning titanium conrods and valves, with the RS also gaining DLC coated tappets, sintered valve guides, new cam profiles and a revised exhaust collector box to aid cooling. Peak power is claimed to be 208bhp, and the new MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RS boasts a dry weight of 186kg.
Within the slick-looking TFT dash are updated IMU settings that control the lean-sensitive cornering ABS, while the option to link up to the MV Ride App remains.
One question we can’t answer is how much this Italian thoroughbred costs, although with the RR coming in at around £30,000, you’d have to imagine that this, only slightly lower-spec machine would still cost a pretty penny!
