Looks like an adult’s Sportsman; decent suspension travel, safety tech, and accessories standard; racks capable of carrying

Only one color option, slightly heavier than the mechanically identical Outlaw 110 EFI, looks like it should have 4WD but only has 2WD

The 2022 Polaris Sportsman 110 is a slightly utility-driven alternative to the sporty Outlaw 110 EFI, but is still only rear-wheel drive despite the suite of safety features and accessories included in the base price.

The 2022 Polaris Sportsman 110 is Polaris’ smallest utility-minded youth ATV, with a 112cc powerplant that has EFI and front and rear racks that are actually weight-rated.

Updates for 2022

The Polaris Sportsman 110 is unchanged for the 2022 model year.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

2022 Polaris Sportsman 110: $3,599

Polaris only offers the Sportsman 110 in Velocity Blue for 2022. We do wish there was at least one more color option. No extra trims or packages are available, so if it’s a Sportsman 110 you or your child wants, you get what Polaris sells.

Powertrain: Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Sportsman 110′s uses the same 112cc engine as the Outlaw 110 EFI. It’s a four-stroke, single-overhead-cam engine that has the benefit of EFI, something fairly uncommon in this segment. It’s a decent little powerplant and motivates the machines with ease.

The Sportsman 110′s transmission is an easy-to-use automatic PVT. It has forward, neutral, and reverse gears. Power is sent to the rear tires and the rear tires alone via chain drive.

The Sportsman 110 is slightly worse off in the handling department versus the Outlaw 110 EFI. The slight weight increase comes due to the utility-focused plastics and shouldn’t be noticeable, but strapping gear or tools to the front and rear racks won’t do it any favors. The Sportsman’s travel of 5 inches front and 6 inches rear are respectable for the class and segment, though the 3.5 inches of ground clearance aren’t much. Before stepping up to a 250-class ATV, Polaris’ own Phoenix 200 is the next way to get more ground clearance and better travel.

The Sportsman 110′s braking power comes by way of dual drums in the front end and matching dual drums in the rear end. Disc brakes are our preferred units, but for a small machine that’s not particularly fast, the drums are sufficient.

Ergonomics: Comfort and Utility

As is the case with the Outlaw 110 EFI, the Sportsman 110 has the difficult job of being something to everyone in the bridge between tiny 50, 70, and 90-class machines and the 200- and 250-class ATVs that are a substantial jump in size and power. The Sportsman 110′s ergonomics work for everyone. However, it’s slightly big for smaller riders, and the machine will be slightly small for bigger riders. The downside is that it might be slightly difficult for some to get comfortable on, but the upside is that there should be some room for younger, smaller riders to grow into.

The Sportsman 110 has racks front and rear, which isn’t peculiar for the class, but what is is that the racks are rated to carry weight. The front rack can carry 15 pounds and the rear rack is rated to carry 30 pounds. Given that the Outlaw 110 EFI, which the Sportsman 110 shares a platform and running gear with, has no racks, we appreciate the utility-looking Sportsman 110 having the ability to lug a bag of gear or small cooler without issue.

The Sportsman 110 is not rated for towing.

Polaris puts high emphasis on safety for the 110-class machines it builds and sells. Like the Outlaw 110 EFI, the Sportsman 110 has a standard adjustable speed limiter and the MSRP includes a helmet, whip flag, and safety tether for parents to keep their kids in reach. The Sportsman 110 also has a neutral and reverse indicator light, LED running lights, and both a brake light and taillight.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

The Sportsman 110 carries Polaris’ six-month limited factory warranty.
