Trailing arm suspension, proven platform, locking front differential, oversized fenders, full doors, 18 inches of Fox suspension travel, 30-inch-tall tires that can be rotated from front to back, and 300-pound storage bed capacity.
Dated design, fit and finish can feel cheaper than other similarly priced brands, low on dry-storage spaces, halogen headlamps, not equipped with a roof as standard, and short manufacturer warranty.
The Arctic Cat Wildcat XX continues to be a potent contenter in the sport side-by-side market. While it may not be as flashy or modern as other offerings, it continues to focus on providing the right functionality to get the job done.
Arctic Cat’s Wildcat XX continues its heritage as a no-frills sport side-by-side weapon with 130 naturally aspirated horsepower, true race-inspired trailing arm suspension geometry, and true locking front differential.
Updates for 2021
For 2022 Arctic Cat has pushed along the older platform and called it the base trim. The two additional trim levels, LTD and SE, both receive minor updates for the 2022 model year in the form of upgraded transmissions. Arctic Cat is calling it the new Adapt CVT. Essentially, it’s a constant-tension CVT belt system that reduces wear, increases transmission durability, and delivers a sharper performance.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
2022 Arctic Cat Wildcat XX MSRP: $21,299
2022 Arctic Cat Wildcat XX LTD MSRP: $21,999
2022 Arctic Cat Wildcat XX SE MSRP: $22,699
We’d recommend staying away from the base trim level with the older CVT transmission. Both LTD and SE trim levels offer the new, more robust Adapt CVT that’s expected to improve both performance and durability. With only $700 difference, the LTD trim package nets you the refreshed 2022 platform. If you want a factory winch, grab the SE trim level and hit the trail.
Powertrain: Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All the Wildcat XX trims come standard with Arctic Cat’s 130 hp liquid-cooled 998cc three-cylinder engine. The base model for 2022 comes with the previous Team CVT transmission, while the LTD and SE offer Arctic Cat’s new Adapt CVT transmission with constant belt tension technology. Transfer case controls offer 2WD, 4WD, and a rare true locking front differential.
Fox 2.5 Podium QS3 shocks support all four corners on each 2022 Wildcat XX trim level. Trailing arm rear suspension geometry works with independent front suspension to provide sport performance no matter the speed. With 18 inches of wheel travel and 15 inches of ground clearance, this side-by-side is ready to tackle the most serious terrain.
Every Wildcat XX trim level offers standard four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes. The front brakes use a dual-caliper design while the rear brakes save weight with a single-caliper design. There is no parking brake.
Ergonomics: Comfort and Utility
The Wildcat XX continues to offer race-bred utility in a pure-sport side-by-side. From the long-stroke suspension that soaks up serious terrain to the bolstered race seats that are ready for four-point harnesses, the Wildcat platform is ready to go. Full doors come standard to help isolate passengers from the terrain as it flies by. Large 30-inch tires help absorb bumps. Aluminum 15-inch wheels keep sidewall deflection in check to help make steering more precise.
Each Wildcat XX has a gross vehicle weight rated for 730 pounds. That includes all passengers. The rear cargo space is rated for 300 pounds. No Wildcat XX comes equipped to tow from the factory.
Each Wildcat XX comes with a multifunction digital gauge display, electric ignition, LED-accented halogen headlights, LED taillights, 470-watt stator, 65-amp alternator, and eight prewired dash connections for accessories.
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
All Wildcat XX trim levels received a standard Arctic Cat six-month warranty.
